NEW OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE HEARING IMPAIRED IN THE LABOUR MARKET
The aim of the project is to provide comprehensive measures that will contribute to the promotion of active labour market policy instruments in relation to the vulnerable group of the hearing impaired and to ensure the prerequisites for better placement of the hearing impaired in the labour market.

BARRIER-FREE EDUCATION FOR THE HEARING IMPAIRED
An innovative project promoting barrier-free education based on training sessions conducted by hearing-impaired lecturers in sign language. A supporting educational tool in the process of increasing digital literacy is distance e-learning combined with in-house training. The project is implemented at national level in all 8 regions.

THE INFORMATION SOCIETY – NEW JOB OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE HEARING IMPAIRED
Development of a new e-learning-based training programme in response to the need to align vocational training with the needs of the labour market. The specialised training programme prepares the hearing impaired to perform specific jobs with a focus on mental work. The programme consists of two parts: web design and computer typography.

ACTIVE CITIZENSHIP AND THE HEARING IMPAIRED
The project supports advocacy activities aimed at defending and promoting the interests of the hearing impaired (HI) with the active participation of HI, who make up to 4% of the population. The aim was to provide mechanisms and measures that will contribute to the implementation of the principle of equal opportunities for the hearing impaired in the areas of education, employability, employment, the possibility of obtaining job in positions with a predominance of mental work, active citizenship and participation in decision-making processes.

NEW TRENDS IN EDUCATION FOR THE HEARING IMPAIRED
The international seminar called the New Trends in Education for the Hearing Impaired was devoted to the issue of further and lifelong education of the hearing impaired as a key prerequisite for higher employability and employment. The use of information and communication technologies as a new tools for the education and inclusion of the hearing impaired is the second theme of the seminar. The four-day seminar took place in March 2007 in Bratislava, with the first day devoted to a presentation of good practice examples by participants from 8 EU programme countries. The second part of the seminar featured the work of experts in working groups.
